First, thank you all for making the journey to Lake Tahoe to celebrate with us!

Below are the closest airports and some tips for getting to the house. The rental is located in Tahoe Vista (184 Rim Dr., Tahoe Vista CA 96148), on the north side of the lake, with gorgeous views and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the weekend. Please don’t arrive to the house before 4pm unless we get an early check in approved, we won’t know until day-of.

Any early arrivals are welcome to enjoy the pool at The Landing Lake Tahoe Resort & Spa or at the Marriott Grand Residence Club - we will text everyone day of where we are and we’ll know if we can push check out by Wednesday but can use the pools after checkout.

Nearest Airports:

  • Located approximately 48 miles from house, RNO is the closest major airport. The drive to Tahoe Vista is approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on traffic.

  • About 122 miles away, SMF is another option, though farther from house, it does have some more direct options. From SMF, it can take 2 to 2.5 hours depending on traffic.

June is a popular time in Lake Tahoe. It's recommended to book rental cars, shuttles, or ride-sharing services well in advance to ensure availability.

Transport from Airports:

  • Both RNO and SMF offer multiple rental car services. Given the limited public transportation to Tahoe Vista, renting a car is a convenient option for flexibility during your stay. We should be okay but if we can coordinate rentals so we don’t have too many cars at the house that’d be ideal!

  • From RNO, the North Lake Tahoe Express provides shuttle services to the North Lake Tahoe area, including stops near Tahoe Vista (where the house is). It's advisable to check their schedule and make reservations in advance. We’ll be in Tahoe a day early so we can pick people up if needed.

  • Uber operates in the Tahoe Vista area, offering rides from the airport to the house. You can schedule rides up to 90 days in advance.

Packing + Weather

In June, Lake Tahoe has pleasant weather, with cool mornings and warm afternoons. The lake water is cold, but it's a beautiful time for hiking, biking, and outdoor weddings before peak tourist season hits in July and August.

    • Layers are essential: Mornings and evenings can be chilly, even if it's warm during the day.

    • Waterproof jacket (just in case)

    • Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen: The sun is intense at high elevation.

    • Hiking shoes: If you’d like to hike, trails may still be a bit muddy or snow-covered in places.

    • Cocktail attire outfit: We want everyone to feel comfortable for a beach wedding, we’d just like to take some nice family photos at the ceremony.

    • Bathing suit: You’ll want the option to either swim (cold plunge) in the lake or soak in the hot tub!

    • Daytime Highs: 65°F to 75°F (18°C to 24°C)

    • Nighttime Lows: 35°F to 45°F (2°C to 7°C)

    The temperatures can vary depending on your location and elevation.

  • ☀️ Sunshine

    • Plenty of sunshine: June typically sees 12 to 14 hours of daylight.

    • Clear skies are common, with little rain

    💨 Wind

    • Light to moderate winds are typical.

    • Afternoon breezes over the lake are common, which can make it feel cooler.

    🌧️ Rainfall

    • Low chance of rain: June is generally dry, with less than 1 inch of rainfall for the entire month.

    🏔️ Snow

    • Snow is unlikely, but snow can still be present at higher elevations (such as hiking trails) from the winter season. By mid-June, most snow at lower elevations has melted.

  • If you're planning to go in the lake, be prepared:

    • Water temperature: around 50°F to 55°F (10°C to 13°C) — very cold!

    • It’s best for boating or kayaking rather than swimming.
